Statement

My work is a visual exploration of identity, vulnerability, and resilience — themes that resonate deeply with my own journey as a queer POC artist. I seek to create portraits that dismantle stereotypes, challenge social expectations, and reveal the raw humanity that often lies hidden beneath layers of performance. My photography does not aim to glorify perfection; instead, it embraces imperfection, emotional complexity, and authenticity.

The series Midlife Crisis: The Emotions examines a transitional period in a man’s life that is often misunderstood or ignored. Through stark black-and-white portraiture, I delve into the emotional landscapes of middle-aged men — their moments of silence, tension, and release. Each portrait is composed to highlight both fragility and strength, using light and shadow to sculpt the emotional truth of the subject.

By removing color, I strip the images down to their essence, allowing viewers to engage with the subtle details of body language, texture, and gaze. My goal is to create work that feels both intimate and universal, sparking conversations about masculinity, healing, and self-discovery.

I believe photography can be both an art and an act of empathy — a bridge to understanding untold stories.
