Saskia Leefield

I am 22 years old and a self taught painter and photographer from London. I aim to present portal moments of transformation using instruments of symbolism, geometry and automatic drawing. I try to create nostalgic compositions the viewer can relate to but also try to construct a unique world and perspective for them to place their feelings. I am inspired by unstructured philosophy and focussing on a pre-linguistic energy often dismissed or repressed. Through photography and painting I attempt to give aesthetic weight to the illogical and the “wrong-feeling” using mythical like figures and human actions which I believe reconnect us with our instinct, storytelling and natural world. Travel and engagement with community’s act as my physical explorations of these places l try to document and the new introspective discoveries I have help me to create images which encourages the viewer to look at their own connection to space and movement.
